Do you die from cardiovascular diseases?

According to ISTAT data from 2017, in Italy cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are responsible for 35.8% of all deaths (32.5% in men and 38.8% in women); 10.4% of all deaths was attributed to ischemic heart disease (11.3% in men and 9.6% in women) and 9.2% to cerebrovascular events (7.6% in men and 10.7% in women).

How many people have a high and very high cardiovascular risk in Italy?

A recent Italian study demonstrated how in a cohort of approximately 7000 subjects aged between 49 and 70 years, 15.1% could be defined as at high cardiovascular risk and 19.9% at very high cardiovascular risk. According to the risk tables developed with the CUORE Project algorithm https://www.cuore.iss.it/valutazione/calc-rischio

Translating these data to the general population, it means that approximately 4.68 million subjects are at high cardiovascular risk and 6.17 million at very high cardiovascular risk
